The best foods for a ketogenic diet are high in fat, moderate in protein, and low in carbs. Some great keto-friendly options include fatty fish like salmon, avocados, nuts, and seeds, full-fat dairy products, healthy oils, and low-carb vegetables like spinach, kale, and broccoli. Additionally, be sure to include plenty of healthy fats like olive oil, coconut oil, and grass-fed butter to help keep you feeling satiated and energized.

How does the keto diet work?

The keto diet is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet that forces your body to use fat stores for energy rather than glucose from carbohydrates. When you drastically reduce your carbohydrate intake, your body enters a metabolic state known as ketosis. During this state, your body burns fat for energy instead of glucose, which can lead to weight loss. To help your body stay in ketosis, it’s important to focus on eating healthy fats and proteins while avoiding processed and high-carb foods. Eating plenty of fiber-rich vegetables and limiting your daily sugar intake can also help you reach your goals.

As you can see in this picture I am pan-searing salmon in butter and herbs.  I also sauteed some shrimp and created a compote of cauliflower rice.  The cauliflower rice is a Steamable rice that comes seasoned with herbs.  I took it a step further and added 1/4 cup cream cheese, butter, salt, pepper, and shredded cheddar.  The dish looks a little bland because I didn't add color vegetables.  If I had my choice, I would have added steamed asparagus.  Unfortunately, I didn't have asparagus available for this meal.
